"The video production is much cheaper in London compared to Uganda. Back home, directors demand a lot of money but produce substandard work. Here in London, quality work is delivered at cheap," he explains in an interview.
Video production is cheaper in London than Uganda -Rabadaba
Rabadaba says that video production in the United Kingdom is cheaper compared to Uganda. He claims that on top of being expensive, Ugandan video directors do not give value for money because of the poor quality work they deliver.
Rabadaba, real names Faisal Seguya, recently released a music video of his song "Ffe Banene". The video was shot in London where he has been a resident for over a year.
The "Olunyiriri" hitmaker revealed that London production houses have made his music career so much easier.
Since his time in the limelight came to an end, after enjoying a successful run in the mid 2000s, the so-called "Ugandan Lil Wayne" has been struggling to reclaim his past glory in this day and age.
Last month, the committee on Gender, Labor and Social Development had suggested that a portion of the national budget (33.57 billion shillings) should be allocated to the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC). This sum would go into supporting artists and communities for artistic efforts.
Artists like Hilderman and Cindy Sanyu supported the announcement. They explained the challenges faced by artists in making music like expensive recording studios, 800,000 Shillings and over 20 million Shillings for video production. It seems Rabadaba has fallen victim to the expensive production process in the local industry.
Bebe Cool was against the proposal saying the money should be invested in tracking music airplay and securing royalties. Cool allegedly has one of the most expensive music videos in the country for his song "Wire Wire" which was shot in North America in the Mojave desert.
