The Uganda Rugby Sevens finished tenth in the Commonwealth Games following a good run of games. Tolbert Onyango’s men lost 31-17 against England in the placement game but their good show and great spirits on and off the pitch has earned global admiration for the boys.

Playing with pride and inspiration for excellence, the Uganda Rugby Sevens have captured global attention at the Commonwealth Games, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
In the 12-12 draw against world champions, Australia, the Cranes were honoured with a standing ovation. The fantastic display by the boys nearly earned the team a huge victory and an upset that the world did not expect.
In the final group match, Uganda defeated Jamaica 40-00 in a resounding performance. Phillip Wokorach, William Nkore, Adrian Kasito, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, scored the tries with no replies from the Caribbean nation. The result was not enough for the Cranes to progress to the medal bracket stages of the tournament but the play-offs.
In other statement win, the Rugby Cranes also conquered Tonga 27-7.
Away from the pitch, Desire Ayera’s brief deejaying stint is one of those moments that has kept tongues restless over the free-flowing vibes from the Uganda team.
From serving vibes to tries, the Uganda Rugby Sevens will now turn their focus to the qualifiers for the lucrative HSBC series to held in Chile.
