The Rugby Cranes got the better of the Kenyans in Kampala at the Africa Rugby 7s tournament as Uganda Rugby Sevens emerged champions of Africa. With pride and bragging rights at stake, the opener will renew old rivalry at a global stage with both teams confident of progressing for a possible medal bracket finish in the coveted tournament.

Head coach Tolbert Onyango named his 14-man squad, dropping one player from the victorious team that lifted the Africa crown. Kelvin Balagadde is the only player dropped from the Rugby 7s as Onyango introduced William Nkore and Alex Aturinda as the new names to the team.
