Jinja Hippos win Kyabazinga 7s

Jinja Hippos emerged winners of the Kyabazinga Sevens circuit in Jinja edging closer to the national title.

Playing on home soil, the Jinja Hippos maintained the domestic pride at Bugembe Stadium in a closely contested clash against Kobs. A solitary try by Denis Etwau was enough to separate the sides as the Hippos consolidated their place at the table summit.

Enroute to finals, they defeated Mongers 12-7 in quarters to set up a semi-final clash against Pirates. They defeated Pirates 14-7 to reach the finals.

National team players were the other star attraction returning to their respective clubs following a long string of international engagements which ranged from the Commonwealth Games, World Challenger Series to the World Cup.

Jinja Hippos now leads the table with 109 points with Heathens chasing for glory in second place at 102 points while Kobs are third with 93 points.

The grand finale will be staged at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds with the ultimate prize all for grabs. The top four clubs all have realistic chances of walking away winners.
