Phiona Nyamutoro, the incoming Minister of State for Energy in charge of Minerals has attributed her appointment to cabinet by President Yoweri Museveni, to divine intervention.

Nyamutoro, who also serves as a national youth MP in parliament, revealed yesterday that her appointment was prophesied nearly three years ago by Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Center.

Back then, she said, she had just won the parliamentary seat, when the pastor laid hands on her and foretold her cabinet appointment.

“I remember when I came to give thanks when I had just been voted in as the national youth MP, Pastor, you laid hands on me and declared that I would be appointed a minister,” she said.

Now, I am here to testify that on Thursday I was appointed the minister of state of Energy (in charge of minerals). I want to say that there is a God in heaven that runs the affairs of men and that God is the God of Miracle Center,” she said amid a thunderous church applause.

Nyamutoro was one of the new ministers unveiled by the president last Thursday, the others being Gen Mbasu Mbadi (Minister of State for Trade), Balaam Barugahara (State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs) and Lillian Aber (State Minister for Refugees).

Others Sironko Woman MP Florence Wamala Wambozi as State Minister for Karamoja Affairs and Dr Kenneth Omona as the State Minister for Northern Uganda Affairs.

The new ministers will this Monday morning appear before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee chaired by House Speaker Anita Among for vetting.

Speaking yesterday during Sunday Service at Rubaga Miracle Center, Nyamutoro revealed that she learned of her appointment through a Friend who lives in the US.

She promised to come back to the church to give a proper Thanksgiving after she’s sworn in.

On his part, Pastor Kayanja said he was stunned by news of his church member’s appointment in the cabinet.

“I was travelling and someone sent me the list and told me to check the Minister of Energy and when I saw it I screamed,” he said

Kayanja revealed that Nyamutoro and her family have been “one of those people who have been in the church for years and never miss a church service.
