“Now I am out, but I will continue serving the government as the Woman MP for Bududa District. I will also continue to serve the NRM government diligently and I will continue to be loyal to the president and the NRM party.”
Nandutu was one of the ministers fired in a cabinet shuffle announced by the President last Thursday evening.
It is believed that her involvement in the diversion of iron sheets meant for the people of Karamoja was part of the reason she was let go.
Her senior minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu was also dropped from the cabinet by the president.
Both outgoing ministers are still in court battling graft charges from last year’s scandal.
Nandutu however, told reporters at Parliament yesterday that she was still grateful to President Museveni for the chance to serve in government.
“I wish to thank President Yoweri Museveni Ssabalwanyi for the chance he gave me to serve in this government in a big cabinet position,” she said.
“I never imagined it, but if people had not seen any good in me, the president did and he picked sit with him in cabinet and work with him.”
“But it is like playing football; time comes when you are substituted and other players come on. I will continue supporting the government from the bench,” Naduttu added.
