In one of the audio recordings, Ms Apple is heard asking Paul Owor to kindly pay her back the money he had borrowed. From the leaked conversation, the woman is believed to be a businesswoman selling products through a digital shop.
Apple says she met Paul through her friends while she was on a day out at a bar in Jinja and that’s how they became friends. She recalled Paul Owor was popping expensive bottles of whiskey and other drinks.
Amidst the celebration at the bar, Paul Owor is said to have allegedly ran out of money and sought a loan of Sh1 million from Apple K 256 to sort out the bar bills.
The lady obliged saying she had esteemed Paul as a wealthy young man, therefore, able to repay the debt but she allegedly only had Sh980,000 which she claims to have given to the politician.
They became good friends and Paul is said to have gained a habit of borrowing money from her and paying it back.
Late last year while at her home, Paul Owor visited and asked for a loan of Sh25 million to seal a deal with a contractor. Apple K stated that she didn’t have the amount at the time and only managed to get him Sh5 million as she was scheduled to travel to Dubai for business.
Leaving him with a promise to find him some more money, the woman is said to have sent an additional Sh2 million to Owor a day later.
According to Apple K 256, Paul Owor is indebted to her to the tune of Sh8 million from 2021 but after a long struggle of asking him to repay, he only managed to clear Sh3 million.
Apple says what hurts her is Paul walking around living a fancy life as a rich man but has totally refused to pay her back the money.
Paul Owor while on a phone interview with a local television station acknowledged the debt to Apple K 256 but said he will only honour the funds owed at his convenience "because she ran to the media".
Apple K 256 says she will use whatever means to make sure she is paid back her money. She also adds that she has never gotten any free thing from Paul, not even free alcohol.
Apple K says she gave the money to Paul on a friendly basis but there wasn’t any form of relationship past that.
Paul Owor's past scandals
This is not the first time Owor has been involved in such money scandals.
In 2021, the Resident State Attorney sanctioned charges of obtaining money by false pretense against the former Busiro South parliamentary candidate, who is known to many as Hustle King.
He along with three others allegedly received $22,000 [about Ush77 million] from a Chinese businessman.
While appearing on national television last year, Paul claimed to be one of the first-ever Ugandans to become billionaires before turning 30.
