Flavia Namulindwa enters parliamentary race for Gomba

US-based Ugandan journalist Flavia Namulidwa is throwing her hat in the ring for the 2026 parliamentary elections. The former Bukedde TV show host is reportedly eying the Gomba East Constituency seat in the 12th Parliament. She joins a growing list celebrities that have expressed political interest ahead of the general elections.

According to reports, Namulindwa is hoping to clinch the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag in the race.

She will also look to leverage her big social media following and her television stardom.

This would be the second time that the bubbly media personality has shown interest in the parliamentary seat.

In 2017, around the time she was first rumoured to have quit Bukedde, reports emerged that Namulindwa was eying the Gomba seat in parliament in the 2021 election.

It was claimed then that because she wanted to run on the NUP card, this created the friction that saw her leaving the government-owned Vision Group.

When her political bid did not materialise, she departed for the US where she started off working as a caretaker of old people, a job she described as “very tough.

Namulindwa promises to give a results-based performance once elected to parliament. Her areas of focus she says will include improving education, health, roads, electricity and water services.

The Gomba East seat is currently held by NUP’s Godfrey Saazi. The other two parliamentary seats in the district (Gomba west and district woman MP) are occupied by NRM MPs.

Early this month, music Nina Rose announced that she will be contesting for Sembabule district woman MP.
