On announcing its closure, so many people were touched especially Ugandan hip-hop and Luga flow musicians.
Many shared farewell messages as well as pictures and memories that they had at the defunct radio station.
Today one of the greatest Ugandan hip-hop and Luga flow rapper GNL Zamba has come out and said he wants to buy off Hot 100.
The rapper has added that the station gave him his first break when he joined music with hits like Soda, Koyi Koyi, Luka and many others. According to him, he sees an opportunity of billions if he acquires such a media house because hip-hop is the wealthiest, most powerful culture.
Hot 100 started way back in but was officially launched in 2007 serving as an urban youth station mostly playing Hip Hop and RnB music.
During its operation, the station birthed talented presenters like Bryan McKenzie, Byg Kahuna, Deejay Crim, DJ Gero, Rashidah, Princess Karma, Humphrey Wampula and many others.
Two years back the station had rebranded to a comedy and more stations but things didn’t work out well.
The management announced the closure of the station through an official letter on social media.
“We pioneered a trendy Ugandan radio format that led to the rise of an urban home, grown genre and culture ‘Luga Flow’. Along the way we popularized Ugandan hip-hop artistes with radio airplay, concerts and dance parties,”
“While we have truly enjoyed doing this, we believe time has now come for us to move on and perhaps continue to serve you in different ways using newer and more efficient platforms. Platforms that may increase engagement and value,” part of the letter reads.
