‘I regret being alive, Mowzey's death messed me up’ - Weasel once told Kusasira

Musician Douglas Mayanja, alias Weasel Manizo, once told Catherine Kusasira that he regretted the trajectory his life had taken following the death of Moses Sekibugo, aka Mowzey Radio

"Sometime back I was talking to Weasel, I think it's like a year ago, there is a word he said, we were conversing, and he told me, Cathy, I regret why I'm still living... why am I still alive? I wish I had died. Since Mowzey's death, my life turned upside down. I don't know why I'm still on this earth," Kusasira said while appearing on Spark TV.

"By the time someone says something like that, the kind of pain they have in their heart, I think it was too much. And I started counseling him that he shouldn't mind because in life everything is possible. Sometimes he does things he shouldn't have because he hates himself. He's not the Weasel we know. But he is a good child."

Radio, who died on February 1, 2018, sang with Weasel under GoodLyfe. They sang great songs together, but since his death, Weasel's music career went downhill.

Meanwhile, during the interview, Kusasira opened up about struggling to retain her role as President Yoweri Museveni's advisor on Kampala affairs and the bank loan that is about to make her lose her house.

"I remember they asked [Lucy] Nakyobe, the former State House Comptroller why Kusasira gets a salary,... and [I] didn't have academic credentials... and I realised it's survival for the fittest that side, so Mr. [Fred] Seruga [her husband] advised me to go back to school... when I took mine, they told me I'm allowed to stay in office, but I lack some, and I realised I need to go back to school," she said.

On her house, she said the money was acquired from the bank but the projects she invested in didn't perform well.

"I used my house as collateral in a bank to acquire a loan for some projects I was pursuing, because most of the time we work to progress," she said.

"Music has failed, so you have to find a way to survive. As you know my businesses encountered challenges,... I still make cosmetics but at a slow rate... cars carrying them would be chased because of the party I support,... and this affected operations."

Kusaira's house is located along Abbas Road in Luwafu, Makindye.
