At the first quarter break it was Uganda with the lead, with the score 15 – 13.
In the second quarter, Uganda maintained the drive scoring two goals to open the period. Jesca Achan interception made up for Cholhok’s rare miss as Uganda went to lead the quarter 30-21.

With all to play in the last quarter, Uganda capitalized on an offside call against the South Africa centre, Chawane, allowed Uganda to take a 6-goal lead with 7 minutes left on the clock and further frustrated the South Africans running down the clock.
