Namuwongo Blazers star Dikong moves to Burundi

Namuwongo Blazers star David Deng Kongor aka Dikong has clinched a contract with Bujumbura city-based outfit Dynamo Basketball Club.

His new employers Dynamo Basketball Club compete in the Viva Basketball League and have won the title on three occasions in 1998, 2016 and 2018.

Dikong, born in Uganda to South Sudan parents, was one of the pivotal stars for National Basketball League finalists Namuwongo Blazers who took narrowly lost the crown to City Oilers.

He had such a stellar performance for the Namuwongo Blazers posting an impressive 12.98 points and seven rebounds in the 2021/22 season.

Before making his mark for Namuwongo Blazers, he graduated from high school ranks playing for Giant Stormers and his breakthrough came at UCU Canons where he started featuring for in the National Basketball League.

Dikong’s move to Burundi is yet another tale of top stars searching for greener pastures outside Uganda.

Recently, City Oilers’ star Francis Azolibe moved to Kigali Titans, Rwanda.
