Daughter of Ghana captain Ayew collapses, rushed to hospital after dad missed penalty against Uruguay

The Black Stars failed to overcome Uruguay in their final World Cup group match and both teams suffered the painful exit from the global tournament in Qatar.

Ghana had the opportunity to take the lead after they got a spot kick and like a leader, Ayew, scorer of Ghana’s penalty in the previous group match hoped to get the Black Stars ahead.

However, a confident Sergio Rochet made the save from the penalty spot and all hell broke loose. With psychological edge over the Black Stars, Uruguay capitalised on the moment and scored a quick double as nemesis Luis Suarez made double assists and a cheeky nutmeg that lowered the confidence of Ghana.

There was no return form Ghana.

Away from the pitch, daughter of Andre Ayew, Maha Ayew, reportedly collapsed after his father missed the penalty.

She was reportedly rushed to hospital as the media urged fans to treat Ayew with respect for the service he rendered to the national team.

In his post-match briefing, he apologised saying; “We had the opportunity to get to the next stage. I missed the penalty. It’s difficult to take. We did not get it right. I am very optimistic for the future. I am sad but we will try and make it better”.
