Medalist Mercyline and Benson Cheboriot’s introduction set for next week

Mercyline Chelangat who is the current champion in cross-country will be walking down the aisle on March 28

While talking to the media, she said with excitement that the love of her life and the best man to happen to her life will be meeting her parents soon this month.

Chelangat is a bronze medalist from the Australia Gold Coast and silver medalist from the Kampala elite half marathon that happened in Kampala last year.

The 24-year-old told the media that her traditional ceremony will be happening on March 28, 2022.

“The love of my life, the champion of my whole heart and my best and closest friend will be making it official on Monday,” said Chelangat.

The man in her life Benson Cheboriot, 32, from Kween district and the two met in 2016 when she was a junior runner.

He is also an officer of the Uganda Police Force with a rank of captain and he is also ASP Benjamin Njia’s assistant at Uganda Police Athletics Club.

Mercyline Chelangat says Benson welcomed her with open arms with guidance when she had joined as a junior in the club.

With time they got close and got to know each other better, something which convinced her that he is the right man with all the qualities of a good husband according to Chelangat.

Benson proposed to Chelangat five years back and she said yes to him, something which she takes as one of the highlights of their relationship.

The couple’s traditional introduction ceremony will be happening at her late father’s residence. The late Nelson Chepkurui Mondos’ ancestral home is in Tulwo village, Bukwo district.

Chelangat is the only daughter in a family of five children.
