RDC advises Muslims to obey NRM so as to get 'juicy' jobs

Muslims in Uganda must unquestioningly obey the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government if they want to get top positions in the public service sector, says Kayunga Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Al-Hajji Nsereko Mutumba.

Speaking at the congratulatory party thrown for Hajjat Ahmed Saba, who has been appointed director for human resource at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), Mutumba said the NRM government cannot employ anyone who is likely to act contrary to its programs.

Mutumba revealed that before the NRM government appoints anyone in any key position, it first sends its intelligence team to gather information about that person. If the person is found to be or have been anti-government that person will be passed over for a plum job.

Thus, Mutumba added, Muslims who wish to get 'juicy' jobs in the NRM government need to toe the line. Mutumba said he himself was appointed RDC Kayunga courtesy of his unswerving support for the NRM government and its programs since the 1980s.

Mutumba asked Hajjat Saba to remain obedient to the system if she was wants to reap an even bigger government job.

When Muslims are submissive, Mutumba added, they will score positions in very important agencies, ministries and departments like the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), UCAA and Bank of Uganda.

Saba has been serving as commissioner for human resources at URA before she was appointed new UCAA director, with the same responsibilities, a few weeks ago. She joined URA 16 years ago and rose through the ranks to become a commissioner.

President Yoweri Museveni is on record for saying that top government positions will be realised by a three-step process, namely cadre identification, cadre development and cadre placement.
