Kakwenza to release his third book, 'The Savage Avenger'

Exiled writer and never-say-die government critic Kakwenza Rukirabashaija is releasing his third book entitled 'The Savage Avenger' about how he fled into exile and it is currently being translated in 5 languages.

Kakwenza's book

“[The] Savage Avenger is the tittle of the book. A narration of events before arrest, the arrest, torture, judicial harassment and fleeing to exile…how I fled to Germany. release date is 18th December 2022,” Kakwenza told this reporter.

Kakwenza, an implacable foe of the regime of president Yoweri Museveni, seems to be taking aim once more at the First Son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The book’s title, 'The Savage Avenger', is telling. It seems to be a sure-fire literary jab at the First Son whose name “Muhoozi” connotes vengeance. And thus means "Avenger".

Kakwenza was allegedly tortured at the hands of Muhoozi himself and so this might account for his calling the First Son a “savage”.

However, when asked about this allusion, Kakwenza brushed off the question by refusing to confirm or deny whether the book’s title is about Muhoozi.

This is Kakwenza's third book. His first was “The Greedy Barbarian”, which obliquely and loosely chronicled the supposed rise and rule of Museveni.

It drew heavily on urban as well as rural legend about how Kayibanda (Museveni) subverted the revolution he supposedly led.

A powerful Roman à clef, it uses composite characters to reveal the Museveni regime in full physic undress.

It landed Kakwenza behind bars.

His experience in stir led to his second book: “Banana Republic: Where Writing is Treasonous.”

Thereafter, it was open season as the Uganda government allegedly harassed and ultimately tortured Kakwenza, leading to his decamping to Germany.
