The ram attacked by hitting her ribs and the old woman died immediately,” Police Chief Major Elijah Mabor narrated.

The sheep was immediately apprehended and taken to a police station before it could subject anyone else to the same fate.

Our role as police is to provide safety and separate fights. The ram was apprehended and currently under custody at a Police Station,” Mabor added.

The incident takes a turn for the truly bizarre as police subject the animal to human law and holding it responsible for taking a life by sentencing it to military camp for three years.

Mabor further states that they arrested the sheep and not the owner, Duony Manyang Dhal, because the owner could not have had anything to do with the violent animal.

The owner is innocent and the ram is the one who perpetrated the crime so it deserves to be arrested then later on the case shall be forwarded to customary court where the case can be handled amicably,” the officer said.

Citizens of South Sudan have experienced diverse effects from the political unrest that plagues the region. The unrest has magnified suffering in economic and social sectors sparking off massive displacement, extreme violence, starvation and depleted resources.
