Born in 1982, Wine, real name, Robert Kyagulanyi, made his name as a musician having started his music career in the early 2000s.

He churned out a number of hit songs over the years, and always competed for the spot of the best musician in the country with Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool.

On the back of a successful music career, Wine in April 2017 announced his candidacy for parliament in a by-election for Kyadondo County East constituency.

He faced off with two seasoned candidates in Sitenda Sebalu of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and Apollo Kantinti of the main opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and beat them with a wide margin.

Then in 2019 he announced his presidential ambitions and run for the presidency in 2021 under the National Unity Platform (NUP).
