Nwagi on scaring baby daddy, ‘hell’ in Sweden, Dubai selfie saga

Winnie Nakwanwagi, alias Winnie Nwagi, has said her baby daddy fears her because he has not contributed much to raising their daughter, Destiny Mirembe.

Nwagi met her baby daddy in her form six vacation. When she realised there was no chance of her joining university, she joined a gym as a pastime and that’s where she met the man she would reproduce with.

“He told me if I want our love to continue, I should abort," Nwagi said during an interview with Extra Digest, clarifying on how the relationship started having issues.

She refused to abort and it’s then she reduced communication.

"I don't think we can meet... because I think If he saw me, he would hide. Because he fears me.... He sees I'm doing everything... I only allowed him to name our child. He is the one who named her Mirembe,” she said.

“I face life like a man... I do everything for my child... I am the mother and father... I told my child that your dad doesn't like you... He doesn't care about us... even when I try to call him when you are sick, he doesn’t show up... And this is a man who has a very nice job.”

In February of this year, Nwagi was booked to perform in Dubai alongside the comedian MC Mariachi.

After the show, Nwagi went to have a meal at a restaurant and she was accosted by fans who wanted to snap selfies with her.

The ‘Matala’ singer didn’t like the approach because she felt they were infringing on her privacy. She also said that they hadn’t attended her show.

“They didn't even attend my show and they wanted a selfie.... I usually take selfies with fans... But these found me eating and I told them to wait but they pressurised me... I have not denied the fact that you are a fan, but I need peace of mind,” she said.

"I explained to them why I refused the selfie… I have my fan friend who stays in Paris... but even when I'm in the UK, she travels to attend my shows... she'll even attend my upcoming concert. That's what I call love.”

The Sweden experience

In 2018, Winnie Nwagi went on a European tour and one of the countries she visited was Sweden.

The ‘Musawo’ singer said the promoter in Sweden took her through hell.

"The last time I was in Sweden it wasn't nice; the promoter handled me well from the airport... it was fun... and then we first went to her place... She left the car and went to her house... I was hoping she would come back and we would go for lunch because I was hungry,” she said.

“I stayed in the car... She didn’t come back, only for someone to come back with two skewers of roasted meat for me,” Nwagi narrated.

"I thought it was a snack to enjoy on the journey… and I hadn't traveled with my manager... I was on my own... They took me to a nice hotel... I was getting hungrier and I was already tired of the meat... They only came to pick me up to perform. I hadn't even drank anything... They rushed me... even Chameleone was there. We were the two performers... I didn't take any pictures because I didn't enjoy it... if she is listening, she should change.”

Nwagi said she was only able to get food after linking with a friend who stays in Sweden and another who flew in from the UK.

Winnie Nwagi will be holding her maiden concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval on September 9.
