FUFA deducts two points from Onduparaka FC

Star Times Uganda Premier League team, Onduparaka, has been deducted two points and two goals following the cancelled game between them and KCCA FC on December 27 at Green Light stadium in Arua.

This match was abandoned in the 97th minute when fans stormed the pitch in protest after referee Ronald Madanda awarded KCCA FC a late penalty.

Despite this decision that sees Oduparaka dropping from 12 points to 20, it still maintains its 13th position in the league.

According to the Federation of Uganda Football Association [FUFA] competitions Disciplinary committee, the cancelled match is to be replayed at a neutral ground with all organising costs being covered by Onduparaka.

Oduparaka’s left-back Rashid Okocha was also suspended from all footballing activities from December 31, 2021 to May 31, 2022 and he was fined one million shillings for attacking a match official.

The CEO of the club Edson Saba Saba was also suspended for 90 days.

It is said according to investigations conducted and with support of the match official’s report that Edson Saba Saba incited violence amongst the fans by telling them not to get out of the field of play as well as protesting the penalty with threatening words and body gestures.

Saba Saba also insulted match officials and incited violence against them contrary to the FUFA competitions rules and regulations.

Also, the center referee, Ronald Madanda, who was in charge of the aborted match was also suspended from football activities until June 20, 2022.

Madanda failed to justify the poor officiating which sparked off the violence during the match according to the Referees Disciplinary Panel.

KCCA FC and its officials had some of their property destroyed but this matter was forwarded by the competitions disciplinary panel to the FUFA Investigatory Chamber for further consideration.
