Fifa has officially announced the use of semi-automated technology to speed up the time taken to reach offside decisions.

Other than the semi-automated technology, match balls will be installed with sensors in the interior to determine the exact kick-point. In addition to that, 12 dedicated multi-tracking cameras mounted on the roof of the stadium to track the ball and transmit the data in relation to the position of each player on the pitch.
In an offside situation, the data will provide an alert in the VAR system.
According to Fifa, the system was sued at the Arab Cup and Club World Cup last year and it was estimated to have reduced the time taken to make offside VAR decisions from 70 to 25 seconds.

"We are very positive. It is ready," said Fifa's head of refereeing Pierluigi Collina.
The system aggregates artificial intelligence, limb tracking among others next level technology.
