Ofwono Opondo mother dies

Alice Owenjuye Opondo died at 2.30 A.M. at Mukono General Hospital, Opondo announced on X on Monday, April 6.

Opondo, who is also the government spokesperson, did not reveal the cause of his mother's death.

Several Ugandans took to social media to commiserate with Ofwono Opondo.

Former Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, who also once headed the Uganda Media Centre, said on X: "Comrade @OfwonoOpondo heartfelt condolences."

One Nats quoted Opondo's post and wrote: "Ooh so sad, may her soul rest internal peace. So sorry for the loss big man."

Eng. Dr. Kenneth Muniina said: ">> Ohh so sorry OOO ... my sincere condolences on your loss ... MHSRIP."

Jude Bwogi wrote: "God has been very good for u sir to have her till this time! We thank God for her life and contribution to this motherland. MHRIP."

Julius Mucunguzi, the head of public relations and spokesperson of the Electoral Commission, wrote: "I am very sorry to hear about this sad loss, my brother OO. May God strengthen you and the family and rest Maama in eternal peace."

Balaam Barugahara, the state minister for Youth and Children Affairs, commented on the post of Ofwono Opondo: "May her soul rest in Peace."

Marcella Karekye, the special presidential assistant on communication and director of the Government Citizen Interaction Centre (GCIC), said on X: "Sincere condolences @OfwonoOpondo. May she rest in eternal peace."

Charlotte Kemigisha, the public relations manager at the agriculture ministry, wrote on X: "So sorry for your loss my boss... May you find comfort and strength in the Lord. May Mama's Soul Rest in eternal peace..."

Burial arrangements are yet to be unveiled.
