“The partisan police earlier claimed that they arrested only 40 people—the usual liars that they are. Here is a partial list of our people still under detention. Out of over 300 detained since Monday, our legal team, leaders, and other comrades have been able to rescue many of them on police bond, while several others are being taken to court over senseless charges. Our teams are working hard to follow up on all these illegal arrests,” Bobi Wine posted on his X platform on Friday.
Bobi Wine said he was detained by "goons" and placed under house arrest immediately after returning from South Africa.
Police, on the other hand, denied detaining the National Unity Platform leader, instead saying they "escorted" him home.
Below is the list;
Police said in a statement that Bobi Wine had been “successfully escorted by our security team from Entebbe to his home in Magere.”
“He reached his home around 11.20 a.m. and was with his family and friends. Disregard rumours of his arrest by propagandists,” the police announced in a statement.
Meanwhile, shortly after his return, Bobi Wine exchanged with police officers who had camped inside his home.
In a video, the NUP boss is seen chasing a team of about seven policemen armed with guns and riot gear.
Bobi Wine, flanked by his wife Barbie and Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, ordered the officers to “get out of my compound” as he filmed them with his mobile phone.
