Nandala cautions FDC Katonga, threatens to crush them
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party secretary-general, Nathan Nandal Mafabi, has cautioned the FDC Katonga faction against'misguiding' the party. He threatened the faction that he would take appropriate action against Katonga if his calls were not heeded.

He maintained that the FDC is a single party with a known headquarters in Najjanankumbi and no factions.
“Katonga is a place for activism. I want to tell the people of Uganda that after tomorrow, we want to sort out those using our name in Katonga as FDC. FDC is in Najjanankumbi; we have our offices at district level, sub-country level, parish level, and village level,” Nandala said on Friday.
He added, “Nobody is going to play with FDC, and I want to tell Lukwago, let him be on the front [when going to take over FDC offices], and I will show him who I am.”
The FDC delegates’ conference took place on Friday, October 6, 2023, on the heels of a High Court ruling that dismissed a petition that had been filed by the Katonga faction to block it on grounds that it was convened illegally.
This new development comes against the backdrop of internal chaos in the opposition's once-leading political party.
At the centre of the chaos are party secretary-general Nathan Nandala Mafabi, party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, party chairperson Wasswa Birigwa, and former party president Kizza Besigye, among others.
Both Nandala and Amuriat are accused by Besigye, Ssemujju, and Birigwa of getting money from President Museveni, who also doubles as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson.
