Muhoozi birthday celebrations are a rich mix of yellow, red

Only two years ago wearing the color red on the streets of Kampala was a cause for the arrest because it had been politicized by the National Unity Platform and was perceived rebellion by the state.

But all that may be in the past now as thousands of red t-shirts have been printed with Muhoozi's picture on them now. While the good General made it clear that there was no preferred color for attendees of the grand birthday party, red and yellow stand out as the preferred colors.

Yellow is expected to be prominent at Muhoozi's birthday because it is highly conceivable that many of his supporters are probably NRM supporters as well. What is beyond expectation is the color red being employed as part of this celebration because it is the brand color of NUP, a party that is fighting to keep Muhoozi as far away from being president of this country as possible. If this is not provocative what is? If this is not a tactical punch in the face of NUP, then what is?

In other news, the party is starting to show signs that it may be moderately attended. It is 3:15pm and the crowd is very light. For a free-entry event whose doors opened at 8 am , it is a bit underwhelming. But then again, this is Kampala on Saturday. It is possible that the greater percentage of attandees are still recuperating from a crazy Friday night and will be arriving in the next few hours. The other consideration is that this is a night event whose actual patrons will start arriving after 7.
