Gen Muhoozi’s birthday party goes to Rukungiri today
By this time we all agree that this is bigger than just a birthday. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba's birthday falls on April 24, which was last Sunday. On April 22, there was a birthday party kasiki in Bushenyi. On April 23, there was another kasiki at Lugogo Cricket Oval. On April 24, the actual party took place at statehouse Entebbe and was attended by president Paul Kagame of Rwanda among other high-profile guests.
Today, a whole weeks later, the first son's birthday is still going on, this time, in Rukungiri town. Videos coming from the venue show a massive crowd waving at Muhoozi and dancing to Uganda's finest musicians in celebration of the president's son. That is larger than a birthday. It is a launch of something that only time will be able to tell.
The birthday caravan for Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba rolled into Rukungiri town today, straight to the Rukungiri main stadium. Kike was the case with the Lugogo Cricket Oval party, the Rukungiri version is also open to the public, with no entrance charges. And like wasn the case withe the Kampala public birthday party, there will be lots of drinks and food.
While it is not yet clear which district is next to host the first son's birthday phenomenon, it wouldn't be surprising to see this caravan hit all the major towns in the country. And as this editor opined last week, this could be the official unveiling of the Muhoozi Project that has been whispered about in the country for the last two decades. Even the banners at these events have proudly displayed the phrase "Muhoozi Project" severally. Looks like someone is capitalising on this political mileage.
