Quick and easy chicken soup to make when you have no energy to cook

Every once in a while, you wake up and you can tell immediately that you are under the weather. It could be the flu or hangover or a headache or even malaria. You know you got to eat something to feel better but you have no energy to cook. That is where this easy to make chicken soup saves the day.

Chicken soup doesn't just taste great, it actually helps get rid of flu. Hot chicken soup helps in reducing the congestion and the pepper and other spices prevent the cold from worsening. The salt in the soup also helps in killing the bacteria in case of a sore throat.

Now, you might think making chicken soup is an ordeal, but it isn't. Here's how you can make it quickly when you are sick and have no strength whatsoever.

Ingredients

  1. Chicken (100g)--Chopped into small pieces
  2. Black peppercorns--4
  3. Cinnamon stick--1 piece
  4. Ginger (one-inch piece) --finely chopped
  5. Garlic (2,3 cloves)--finely chopped
  6. Green chillies (1 or 2)--finely chopped
  7. Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  8. Salt--to taste
  9. Chicken stock cube--1

Drop a teaspoon of butter in a pressure cooker a turn on the heat. Add the chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies, peppercorns, cinnamon stick and chicken and stir for a few minutes until the chicken turns opaque. Add the coriander and salt. Mix well. Add 5 cups of water and one cube of chicken stock and stir. Chick stock is the fat that collects on top of the soup after cooking. Cover the pressure cooker and cook on medium flame for at least 5 whistles or till the chicken is cooked. Serve hot.
