He asked the herbalist, professor Patrick Ogwang, to access the healing powers of plants to intervene in the intimacy issues of young men in their marriages.

“You are a research-oriented person, please do something from the forest to help these young couples and save their marriages. Sex is a big issue, especially among corporates, they are really suffering. These couples between the ages of 25 and 45 come to me complaining that their husbands cannot perform in the bedroom. They can’t sustain intimacy," Bamutungire said.

He said that from his observation, the problem is beyond diet and stress because the men in dispute are young and well groomed. Said men also come to him post marriage for advise on improving their sex lives.

“They are young men, they eat well, and they go to the gym and look good. They are seductive but when they are in the bedroom, they can’t perform. It seems this is not just a stress-related or diet issue, but one that needs a deeper solution that can be addressed medically,” he said.

In response, Prof Ogwang majorly attributed erectile failures to external pressures that stress and exhaust the brain.

“Young people are stressed because of finances, family, and work-related issues. When you are stressed, your brain cannot work well and the brain is the master of everything. Erection starts from the brain. If the brain is tired, you cannot erect as well,” he said.

More bad news followed from the Professor, who added that there are bigger issues that will worsen erectile problems in time.

“We also have a polluted environment. Evidence shows that sperm counts for men is decreasing worldwide because of pollution. Time will come when men will have no sperms," he said.

Prof Ogwang and Rev Bamutungire, Anthony Wesaka, Stephen Mbidde, and Collins Hamidu as well as lawyers and Members of Parliament were among those recognised.
