Amidst this universal journey, there exists a fascinating concept known as life expectancy. Life expectancy reflects the average lifespan of individuals in a given population, influenced by factors such as access to healthcare, socio-economic conditions, and prevalence of diseases.

Improvements in life expectancy despite being exclusive to particular countries are a landmark sign of progress.

According to the data available from the World Bank, in 2021, the average life expectancy at birth was 71 years. Global life expectancy at birth declined for the second straight year as the COVID-19 pandemic reversed decades of increases.

The countries with the longest expected life spans were wealthy in Asia and Europe, with Japan, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and South Korea all topping the list at 84 years.

In Africa, life expectancy varied widely across the continent due to factors such as access to healthcare, economic development, and prevalence of diseases.

Algeria boasts the highest life expectancy at 76.4 years, followed closely by Morocco at 74.0 and Tunisia at 73.8.
