Amelia Kyambadde hails best performing brands with trade endorsement at EABQA

Former Minister for Trade, Industries and Cooperatives, and Mawokota legislator, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde applauded East Africa Brand Quality Awards (EABQA) organiser Nsubuga Patrick, for fostering competition in the private sector to ensure quality production.

Some of the brands in the spotlight at the event included public nominated and selected local producers from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda, and all received the EABQ seal of Quality Excellence.

Kyambadde who officiated the event, which was organised by EABQA in partnership with Chartered Quality Institute and Alconext, applauded organisers for creating and sustaining the spirit of competition to ensure that consumers receive quality service and production.

She noted that the next step for local producers is to start participation in regional markets such as the East African Common Market [COMESA] and African Free Trade Area[AFTA] which have been prepared for producers on the continent. Through such initiatives as collective markets, she said that all EA countries are aligning standards to relieve traders and producers from protocols of getting similar approval in each country.

She urged brands to emphasise the Buy Uganda Build Uganda idea to promote value addition on local products to give them competiting advantage on the global scene.

She said about the awards, "Officiated at the 2nd edition of EABQA at Gold Course Hotel. The awards recognise the best performing companies and SMEs that excel in quality improvement and Innovations,inspiring the adoption of international quality culture in the East African Entterprises."

The EABQA are also commended for bringing together distinguished company owners to share ideas and innovation to continue boosting the private sector service delivery.
