Photos & videos: Chairman Nyanzi weds Majorine Namukisa

Their wedding comes after the couple already shares 11 children and they've been together for 23 years.

The couple took their marriage vows at St. Mary's Cathedral Rubaga in Kampala in the presence of family and friends.

Speaking at the event, Bobi Wine, who was accompanied by his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, said that their grandfather and father also took their marriage vows from the same catholic church.

Wine and Barbie flew from the U.K. on Thursday night.

They had been out of the country, as the singer-turned-politician had a concert in London where he performed alongside celebrated crooners like Nubian Li, Gen. Mega Dee, and Big Eye Starboss.

Meanwhile, Chairman Nyanzi -- real name Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu -- and the bride, Majorine Namukisa Nyanzi Katumba, will host their guests at Freedom City Hall, along Entebbe Road for the wedding reception.

Nyanzi had earlier said that they chose to cancel the honeymoon session, as he is busy with political party duties.

He is the elder brother of Bobi Wine, alias Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu -- who heads the National Unity Platform (NUP).

Chairman Nyanzi is the head of mobilization in the party and they are set for countrywide campaigns.

The couple’s wedding was meant to go down in 2020 but they had to postpone it after the COVID-19 lockdown that lasted for nearly three years made it impossible for grand celebrations.

Before the lockdown was instituted, they had already organised their introduction (Kukyala) ceremony where Majorine Namukisa introduced Fred Nyanzi to her parents in Kyankwanzi district.
