Africa Wisdom Summit 2024: Shaping future through intergenerational dialogue
The event is organized by the Sahara Wisdom Center and will feature prominent speakers including the First Lady Mama Janet Museveni, Next Media’s Deputy Group CEO Joe Kigozi, and Next Media Head of Content Kevin Kaija.
There is also BBC Host Allan Kasujja, Her Royal Highness Queen Sylvia Nagginda, SWC CEO Dr. Dennis Sempebwa, KCCA ED Dorothy Kisaka, Nation Group MD Susan Nsibirwa, Deputy Group CEO Next Media Joe Kigozi, and Group Executive Director YMH Dumi Lopang.
Dr. Dennis Sempebwa, the CEO of Sahara Wisdom Centre, noted the importance of the summit during the NBS Breakfast Meeting.
He emphasized the need for a mind shift among the young population in Africa, who are now taking on more responsibility as the current leaders are aging.
With traditional wisdom from elders no longer being as influential, there is a growing existential threat as young people try and navigate in a globalized, tech-driven society without a sense of identity or values.
“Without a history, young people lose a sense of identity,” Dr. Sempebwa warned, noting the need for the elders to guide the youth in maintaining cultural integrity.
The Africa Wisdom Summit will address these challenges by encouraging intergenerational conversations that aim at creating a new value-based leadership ethos tailored for Africa.
The theme revolves around leveraging Africa’s wealth and resources to craft a prosperous future.
Attendees can expect keynote addresses, including one from Dr. Dennis Sempebwa, and a variety of sessions such as Proverbs sessions and breakout sessions.
These will focus on building leadership systems that are grounded in African values. There will be an opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with participants from Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The Africa Wisdom Summit aims to create a path toward a sustainable and prosperous future by promoting intergenerational conversations and leveraging collective knowledge, it aspires to shape a new leadership ethos that will guide Africa’s progress for future generations.
