Mesach Semakula scolds disrespectful journalists

Legendary Ugandan singer Mesach Ssemakula has revealed why he carefully chooses the journalists he works with.

The Golden Band boss and businessman yesterday shared a word of advice to entertainment reporters, urging them to cease disrespecting distinguished artists who have worked hard and built names over the years.

This he said is the reason he works with and supports only a handful of reporters; those he knows have a sense of restraint and respect.

Semakula said he has helped such reporters by setting up interviews for them with highly respected artists, who otherwise would be inaccessible to them.

“We have reporters who will stand in front of a highly regarded artist and start asking them very demeaning questions….questions about things that happened decades ago,” he said.

Ssemakula was speaking at a press conference for the Mama Brighton show that’s being organized by journalist and YouTuber Allan Cruz.

Semakula commended Cruz for being one of the few reporters who are down to earth and listening.

“I like him because he listens, what you tell him is what he will do,” he said

Ssemakula revealed how he recently set up an interview for Cruz with veteran journalist Abby Mukiibi.

“I therefore ask the rest of you reporters to learn from this. If you are talking to Lil Pazo or Kabako, there are questions you can ask them; but if you meet Abby Mukiibi or Mariam Ndagire, know must know which questions to ask them.”

Ssemakula pledged financial support to the upcoming comedy show which is slated for tomorrow April 26 at Theater LaBonita
