The former presenter on Next Media’s NBS and Sanyuka TV might soon find his way back with his former employers.

Kawalya revealed this weekend that his former boss, Kin Kariisa reached out to him with an offer about a week ago at the just-concluded Uganda North America Association (UNAA) convention in Texas.

He is to be the brand ambassador of Afro-Mobile, a Ugandan TV streaming app that is set to be launched in the US.

We had a long chat on the sidelines of the conference and we agreed on everything…We are bringing Afro Mobile to America and I will be its face here,” he said.

The app, he said, is currently being cleaned up for glitches before it can be rolled out in the US.

Asked during an interview on the Diaspora Connect channel, whether there was no more bad blood between him and Kariisa given the circumstances of his departure, he said there never was.

Kariisa has always been my friend; the other people talked but he was a good boss and he’s young like me,” he added.

Kawalya moved to the United States in early July after a long spell of “frustration” at the Naguru-based media house.

It was reported at the time the presenter had complained about being overworked, underpaid, and hardly appreciated by his employers.

For the past two months, Kawalya has seemed to settle in and adjust quickly to his new life.

He has since been making regular appearances on the Diaspora Connect with former Bukedde TV presenter Flavia Namulindwa.
