Last night, Gashumba unveiled her new ride, a Range Rover Velar in a sleek rose gold colour with personalised plates “Gash 00UG.”
The 28-year-old TV personality and emcee shared on social media, pictures of herself and the ride adorned with a large pink ribbon tied in a bow and decorated with balloons and flowers.
She now joins a growing list of Ugandan celebrities who have purchased the UK-made car brand recently.
Spice Diana, Gravity Omutujju, and Jose Chameleone are other celebrities who have recently joined the Range Rover club.
Why Range Rovers Appeal to Ugandan Celebrities
Prestige and Status Symbol
For top Ugandan celebrities, a Range Rover isn't just a car—it’s a statement of achievement and prestige. These SUVs are associated with wealth, luxury, and success, making them the perfect choice for high-profile individuals.
Spice Diana, for example, made headlines when she added a Range Rover Sport to her collection, further cementing her place among the elite in Uganda's music scene.
“We post some of these things on social media not to brag, but because our fans love to see them…" she commented once about her new car.
Comfort and Performance
Range Rovers, especially the latest models like the Velar and Sport, are known for their comfort and advanced features. For musicians like Gravity Omutujju, who frequently travel across the country for concerts, the ability to block out external noise and enjoy a smooth ride even on rough terrains is a major selling point.
Gravity, who purchased his Range Rover Sport in 2023, mentioned that the vehicle’s ability to mute the noise from a passing truck amazed him, thanks to its high-tech soundproofing.
Versatility and Durability
Uganda's road network can be challenging, particularly for celebrities who tour remote areas for performances. Range Rovers are built for both urban luxury and off-road durability, making them ideal for musicians.
Personalisation Options
Another reason celebrities are drawn to Range Rovers is the ability to personalise their cars, making them unique expressions of their personality. Sheila Gashumba’s Velar, with its personalised number plate “Gash 00UG” and rose gold finish, is a prime example of how celebrities use these vehicles to stand out. Spice Diana’s maroon Evoque, unveiled in 2021, also highlighted her love for customisation and flair
Influence Among Peers
Celebrities often influence each other, and this is true in the case of Range Rover ownership. Gravity Omutujju admitted that his decision to buy a Range Rover was partly inspired by Chameleone, who had previously driven him around in one. This peer influence creates a ripple effect, where more celebrities aspire to own these high-end vehicles.
Range Rovers have become a symbol of success and luxury among Ugandan celebrities, offering the perfect blend of performance, comfort, and status.
For those in the entertainment industry, where image and reliability are key, owning a Range Rover is a way to showcase their achievements while enjoying the practical benefits of a high-performance SUV.
