The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope, celebrated his graduation from Yale University on May 19, 2025, with a heartfelt message to his wife, Jovia Mutesi, on X.

He thanked her for her unwavering support during his studies at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, where he earned a Master of Advanced Studies in Global Affairs.

“My beloved wife Jovia, Inhebantu of Busoga, your love anchors me, and your strength shields me. Through late nights, distant days, and quiet sacrifices, you stood by me with grace and patience,” he wrote on X.

“You made this journey possible and meaningful. I could not have asked for a more loving companion or inspiring partner. This degree is as much yours as it is mine.”

Gabula Nadiope’s achievement marks his second master’s degree, following an MBA from Coventry University in the UK.

He also pursues a PhD at the University of Portsmouth, setting a powerful example for young Ugandans through his dedication to education.

The Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, based in New Haven, Connecticut, opened in 2010.

It trains students for global leadership roles, equipping them with skills to tackle international challenges.

Kyabazinga

Born on November 1, 1988, Gabula Nadiope became the fourth Kyabazinga of Busoga on August 23, 2014, after selection by the ten Busoga Royal Chiefs.

Raised in Jinja by his maternal grandmother, he attended Victoria Nile, Winston Day and Boarding Primary School in Kawempe, and Lohana Academy until 2001. He studied O-Levels at Busoga College Mwiri from 2002 to 2005 and completed A-Levels at Kyambogo College School in 2007.

In 2011, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kyambogo University.Gabula Nadiope hails from a lineage of leaders. His father, Wilson Gabula Nadiope III, served as Uganda’s minister of tourism, while his grandfather, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II, was both Kyabazinga and Uganda’s first vice president.
