Gumisiriza at the start of the week was arrested and had to spend a night behind bars at Katwe Police Station after a misunderstanding with a woman he picked up from the streets on Salaama Road.
The woman accused Gumisiriza of trying to stab her with a knife and reportedly demanded Shs 20million in compensation.
Speaking to reporters at Entebbe International Airport on arrival from Canada, Hajjat Kulthum said she had been following the developments online. She also revealed that she talked to her husband and he explained everything.
She said, however, that the public overreacted about the whole incident, noting that her husband was within his rights to have an affair with another woman because such is their marriage arrangement.
“We agreed that there is no such thing as cheating in our marriage,” she said.
“Besides, he is a Muslim man; he’s free to marry a second, third, or fourth woman, so this business of him getting other women is pointless.”
Kulthum went on to describe her husband as a “gentleman” and blasted other people who she believes are coming after him for his money.
"It is just that people want to make money off of him, others are jealous they have never been able to live with the fact that he married me, but they all just need to take a rest.”
In an earlier YouTube interview, Akram admitted to cheating on his wife and revealed he and the sex worker had a blood test first.
