Juliana Kagwa on Monday, 16 June, officially assumed office as the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).

Handover
The handover ceremony was officiated by the Board Chairperson, Pearl Kakooza, in the presence of the Vice Chairperson, Ron Kawamara.
Board members Rashid Kiyimba and Dr Ojara Margaret, as well as UTB Deputy CEO Bradford Ochieng, were also present.
A seasoned marketing and commercial executive, Juliana Kagwa brings over 20 years of experience in fast-moving consumer goods and agribusiness across Africa.
She has a proven track record in building iconic brands, leading cross-border strategies, and fostering impactful public–private partnerships.

Kagwa, who was appointed to the role on 21 May, replaces Lilly Ajarova, who took up a new position as Senior Presidential Advisor after serving as CEO since 10 January 2019.
Before joining UTB, Kagwa was Group Sales and Marketing Director at Seed Co Group, a South African company. Prior to that, she was Director of Corporate Relations at Diageo.
UTB advertised the CEO position in January, seeking a highly qualified candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
Juliana Kagwa has an extensive career in marketing and management, having worked as Marketing Director at Uganda Breweries Limited, Country Manager at Heineken, Marketing and Brand Manager at East African Breweries Limited, and Media Representative at GlaxoSmithKline.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from Makerere University, and two Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.
