The 36-year-old lawmaker raised his frustrations on social media shortly after Namboole stadium, which was meant to host his event, issued another statement advising him to find another alternative.

Speaking to a group of people, Wine, who has denied having intentions of running for the presidency in 2021, said institutions are broken and nonfunctional because of one person -- President Museveni.

The Kyadondo East MP claims Museveni, 74, Uganda's president since 1986, is using institutions to benefit himself, his family and close allies.

"We have to remove that cowboy from that seat. His seat is ours and we want it...institutions are not functioning because only one person and his family is using them to do his work...all institutions are dead and only one person is controlling them and that is why we should remove him...if there is luggage he hasn't packed, he should hurry," Wine said.

The legislator caused an international outcry in August when he was brutally arrested and allegedly tortured by Ugandan soldiers while in detention.

He faces treason for allegedly pelting stones to the presidential motorcade and damaging one of the vehicles in the northern town of Arua.

His driver was shot dead on August 13th by people whose Bobi Wine's camp say were Ugandan security operatives who had plans to assassinate the 36-year-old lawmaker whose supporters see as the new face of opposition.
