'We are proud of him': Museveni congratulates Denis Onyango after winning prestigious CAF award

Uganda's President Kaguta Museveni has congratulated the national team captain Denis Onyango after winning Africa's best goalkeeper accolade at CAF awards on Tuesday night.

The president shared his congratulatory message on his social media platforms on Wednesday.

Onyango, who was also named in African's best XI team, has contributed immensely to Uganda's football success. He has won several trophies with South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns FC.

Museveni wrote: "I congratulate my son Denis Onyango for being named in Africa's best XI football team at the just-concluded CAF Awards in Dakar, Senegal.

"There is no doubt his goal-keeping skills have contributed immensely to Uganda's recent footballing success, and as a country, we are proud of him."

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper features in the FIFPro team together with other prominent football giants like Mohammed Salah and Sanio Mane.
