Photos: Vinka answers critics with sold-out Cricket Oval maiden concert
The Afropop and dancehall star, Vinka answered her critics with numbers as thousands of fans filled Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday night, August 21, 2026, for her maiden concert.
The singer, born Veronica Nakiyingi Lugya, delivered a career-defining performance at the Vinka Live and Loud, proving her ability to command one of Uganda’s biggest entertainment stages after nearly a decade in the industry.
Days before she stepped on stage, Vinka found herself fighting a battle beyond music.
She faced criticism and calls from some sections of the public to boycott the show, over her involvement in the recent election campaigns
The controversy followed her public support for her husband, Nelly Witta (Nelson Witta), during the 2026 general elections when he contested the Isingiro West County parliamentary seat.
But on Friday night, August 21, 2026, Vinka beat these odds, filling up the Cricket Oval
