URA FC: Coach Baker Mbowa sacked, Joshua Lubwama joins from Wakiso Giants
In a statement released today, URA FC notes that they have parted ways with the coach with immediate effect and Sam Timbe will be expected to take charge of the tax collectors’ technical bench,
“We wish to announce that URA FC has parted was with assistant coach Baker Mbowa with immediate effect. Mbowa joined the club in April 2022 and has been serving as assistant coach to Sam Timbe.
“For now, Timbe remains head coach and his new assistant will be named very soon. As URA FC, we would like to thank coach Mbowa for the memories with us and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours”.
URA could have been compelled to cut ties with Mbowa due to the lacklustre performance by the club in the first half of the season.
The club has only managed to collect 14 points from 14 matches and is languishing mid-table in the eleventh position.
In the January transfer window, URA FC have also let go of striker Derrick Nsibambi who joins the Oman Professional League after just three months at the club.
The club has also announced the signing of Joshua Lubwama from Wakiso Giants.
Lubwama trades as a central midfielder and central defender. He was part of the Uganda Beach Soccer side, Sand Cranes that featured in AFCON beach soccer tournament last year in Mozambique.
“I am happy to be join URA FC, it’s a dream come true as this is one of the biggest clubs in the country”, he said.
