UPDF soldier kills two colleagues

Pulse Uganda has since learned that Lomuro, who is attached to the Mountain Division Signal Department, specifically the Air Force Evacuation Component, allegedly shot at three of his colleagues, due to an internal grievance.

The incident happened at Muhooti barracks in Kabarole district, and the victims are yet to be identified.

By press time, the UPDF had not yet confirmed these allegations, and efforts to call the UPDF spokesperson were futile.

There have been rampant killings ever since Wilson Sabiiti, a UPDF private soldier, shot dead former state minister for labour Rtd. Col. Charles Engola at his home in Kyanja as he prepared to go for Cabinet meeting.

Sabiiti later took his own life in a saloon in the same area.

Residents revealed that he shouted out his frustrations about poor and delayed pay on the side of Government before taking his own life.

A week later, Police Constable Ivan Wabwire shot dead an Indian money lender identified as Uttam Bhandari, who, according to Police, was the director of TFS Financial Services.

The incident took place at Rajja Chambers in Kampala on Friday, May 12 2023.

The shootings have thus sparked debate about mental health, minimum wage and working conditions for employees as a whole.
