UNEB directs schools to display candidates' registers
The directive was given by the examinations body, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), through an official statement released on their official Twitter handle, which indicated that the directive applies to final-year candidates across the country at all levels of education.
According to the UNEB spokesperson, Jennifer Kalule, all schools or examination sitting centres for the 2023 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations are expected to display candidates' registers as of today, Monday, August 14, 2023.
Kalule said that the Board would introduce a Short Message Service (SMS) option on mobile phones for candidates to confirm their registration status by inputting their index numbers.
"Where anomalies in the candidates' bio-data are discovered, candidates should notify the school authorities, who should also notify UNEB via the UNEB portal," she said.
UNEB, through the statement, said that if a candidate was not registered for whatever reason but has proof of having paid registration fees on time, UNEB should be notified promptly, and also encouraged parents and applicants to take advantage of this time to confirm both the registration status and the accuracy of the bio-data given.
School heads were also told to provide candidate registers to the District Education Officers (DEO).
According to UNEB, over 200,000 final-year candidates at all levels are expected to sit for final-year examinations at all levels of education.
