Ugandan music writer, Blackskin still remanded at Luzira prison over defamation
He was reportedly arrested by police in his home at the weekend on issues attributed to Bebe Cool’s new song ‘Gyenvudde’.
Producer Eno Beats, who happens to be Blackskin’s best friend revealed that Ssenyonjo will return to court today for hearing, December 7th, 2021.
Before Blackskin was arrested, he had done a number of media interviews accusing Bebe Cool of bleaching a verbal contract they had when he sold him the Gyenvude song. According to Blackskin, the agreement was to clear full payment before releasing the song but Bebe Cool only paid half and resorted to playing cat and mouse with arrogant replies whenever he was contacted.
When he [Bebe Cool] finally released the song, Black Skin also released the original version with the same lyrics and a few changes, which angered Bebe Cool. He promised to arrest him and teach him a lesson for defamation and obtaining money by false pretense. According to Bebe, he looked for Blackskin and his manager to clear the balance but since they had heard about the song release, they asked for ten times of the money they had initially agreed upon which was one million.
Blackskin is a famous songwriter who has in the past written for Bebe Cool songs like ‘Katono’, ‘Up and Whine' as well as other songs for different artists.
