The three journalists include Godfrey Badebye, Kassim Mohamad, and Rashid Kawesa. Their driver had also been detained.

Police claimed the reporters were buying classified drugs from an undercover security officer.

The government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo on Thursday said the journalists had been cooperating with the State House Health Monitoring Unit to investigate the theft and sale of Ugandan government drugs.
