The Ugandan Parliament has declared Friday, November 30th, a national day of mourning after a boat capsized in Lake Victoria killing 32 people.

Minister for Works Eng. Ntege Azuba presented a statement in Parliament on Tuesday revealing that security agencies have been ordered to arrest anyone found operating any vessel without operator licenses and lifesaving kits.

As of Monday, 26 people had been rescued since the tragedy happened with authorities signalling no possibility of more survivors.

Uganda police and UPDF with assistance from local fishermen have been trying to retrieve the sunken boat.

A heavy duty machine was deployed on Mutima Beach to aid in the retrieval process.
