Briefly tell us about yourself.

Bonny Kibuuka is a Ugandan. I am the host of The Ugandan Boy Talk Show, a podcast that I started three years ago.

I was born and raised in Uganda. I currently live in Michigan, U.S.

How did the move to the U.S. happen?

I moved to the U.S. because I wanted to go to study. I wanted to do aviation. I went there to become a pilot and an aircraft mechanic which I currently do.

What inspired the kind of content you do on the podcast?

The Ugandan Boy Talk Show was inspired by my personal journey. What I have gone through. Being able to achieve my dreams. I'm an aircraft mechanic and pilot in America.

I feel like a lot of other kids in Uganda need to hear the types of stories... to have hope in whatever they want to do.

I want to bring people on the podcast to share their stories... with the idea of inspiring another child somewhere.

I bring people on to share their life stories, their struggles, challenges and how they've been able to succeed. That's what inspired the whole podcast

You've won the Podcast Influencer of the Year in the Pulse Influencer Awards twice, how does that make you feel?

It feels great, especially the first year, I didn't know if my content was good enough. But the love that people showed me in voting and just sharing my podcast, it gave me hope that people are watching and this was inspiring because there are a lot of people who are doing podcasts and they feel like they are not doing enough.

The first award helped me to understand that actually people see you and people see the work you do and that helped me.

With the second one, the same thing that people were voting me around the world... that helped me and gave me the courage... and it's just something that makes me happy.

You are organising a live event on January 20, tell us about it.

I am organising... a live podcast in Uganda, which I called the Homecoming Edition because this is the first time I've been back to Uganda ever since I left.

The goal of this is to meet the people who have been listening to my podcast in Uganda and to share the love and good times while bringing my special guests who will be here to share about content creation. Because as a podcaster, I'm doing content and there is a lot of people in Uganda right now that are doing content in different categories.

So, that's why you see on my special guests, I have videographers, I have lifestyle and beauty content creators, I have poets, I have photographers; I want them to come and share about their experiences.

It's gonna be at the Coterie Book Cafe which is a great location for cozy conversations. It's gonna be amazing. I have great performers who gonna perform, great emcees.

If you could tell us some of the guest speakers and who is invited.

So, currently the show is sold out due to the the space and the location that we have.

But I'm excited to have Edwin Nyaika (photographer and videographer), Prim Nyonyozi (lifestyle content creator), William (better known as Pictures that William Takes; photographer & videographer), Angel Kabera (soet); they gonna be my guest speakers of the day. But I also have Harmony Kyomugisha as the emcee and Jeff the Poet as a guest performer.

The live podcast will start at 3 P.M. and end at like at 6 P.M.

Should your fans expect you to stay here forever?

I have to return to the U.S. because that's where I live right now. That's where I work... I'm gonna be here for a short time but Uganda is always home.

For those that won't be able to attend, how can they catch the show?

We are working with my team to have a live stream for people to watch on YouTube. But in case we aren't able to have a live stream, we will have the show uploaded to the YouTube channel the following weekend.

Any tips for content creators who want to go into podcasting?

Yeah, I would say, just start. Because when I started my podcast, I was in my bedroom with my phone and just looking at the phone and just talking. I didn't have microphones, but along the journey, things came together. So, once you start, and then you have the passion and the dream to go forward, it helps you. So, all the creatives out there, don't be shy with your work, just put it out there and the right people will find you and enjoy your work
