Joanna Namutebi Wabwire, the daughter of Gayaza High School’s headmistress, Robina Kizito, got married to her fiancé Derrick Wabwire in a beautiful ceremony at All Saints Cathedral on Friday last week and the couple had their reception at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.
The newly wed couple spent their night at the very hotel and attended a medical procedure the next morning at the Women’s International Fertility Hospital in Bukoto for family planning.
At Women’s International hospital , findings showed issues with her uterus after scans were made on Namutebi, and the couple was advised against the use of Intrauterine Device (IUD) and given other medical subscriptions to help realign her uterus.
“The doctors advised her to take some water, to which she obliged. Thereafter, they inserted an IUD coil, after which she started feeling pain in her stomach, developed a strong headache and fainted while still at the hospital,” said Charles Twiine, CID spokesperson.
“Our medical investigators tell us that it isn’t allowed to insert an IUD when a woman is in her menstrual cycle,” he added
According to Arthur Matsiko, the spokesperson for International Fertility Hospital in Bukoto, the couple sought assistance from the facility for Family Planning, but after the administration of the IUD device, Joanna developed medical complications, which warranted the medical doctors who were working on her to immediately transfer her for further management.
By Wednesday, four medics from the hospital had been picked by police to record statements about the matter.
