Suspect in Ambassador Nekesa heist spends Shs120m on luxury

The arrest is part of a wider investigation into the theft of Shs2.2 billion from the residence of Oundo and her husband Hajji Mafabi Sulaiman Lumolo in December 2023.

The arrest operation, meticulously planned and executed by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, culminated in the capture of 25-year-old Pallaso in Masaka City. Initially dispatched from Old Kampala and Katwe divisions, the team conducted a two-day intensive surveillance before apprehending the suspect along Edward Street on January 27, 2024.

During interrogation, Pallaso confessed to his involvement in the Muyenga robbery. He admitted to spending his share of the loot, totaling Shs120 million, on various assets including a Toyota Harrier, a restaurant, a house in Nyendo Mukude, a plot in Nabugabo Road, and an electronics shop. Pallaso’s spending spree totaled an estimated Shs123m, reflecting the magnitude of the robbery’s proceeds.

Following his arrest, Pallaso was transferred to the Kabalagala Police Division for further legal proceedings. He becomes the thirteenth suspect apprehended in this case, joining a group that includes several police officers implicated in the robbery. The ongoing investigation by the Kampala Metropolitan Police continues to unfold, unraveling the complex web behind this audacious crime.
